Holistic Assessment workshop at The Parramatta College

CCA, generously hosted by The Parramatta College at their Western Sydney Skills Hub, held a well-attended professional development session for trainers and assessors on Thursday 9 November.

Participants brought a diversity of experience and ranged from novice assessors through to coordinators and trainers with vast experience.  The facilitator, Sue Flindell from Positive Learning Solutions, brought it all together well, grounding the session with an examination of what quality training and assessment in VET under the current legislative framework means, and emphasising that competence must be assessed in real world work or community contexts. Sue’s experience in both delivery and compliance contexts gave the session valuable relevance. Assessors have a responsibility to ensure the tools and practices used by their RTOs are fit for purpose.

Participants all left with tangible actions and increased confidence in their practice.

CCA plans to hold more professional development events in 2018.
