Gabrielle Meagher
Professor, Macquarie University
Gabrielle Meagher is Professor Emerita in the School of Social Sciences at Macquarie University. Gabrielle has longstanding research interests in paid care work and how it is valued and organised in social service systems, industrial relations and society more broadly. In this work, her starting point is that the workforce is a critical social policy issue for publicly funded essential care services such as aged care, child care, child welfare and disability support. Gabrielle has also researched the process and impact of privatisation of social services. She has been an expert witness in several equal pay and work value cases, most recently in the work value case for the aged care industry underway in the Fair Work Commission.
