Community college CEO features in ASQA education video on audit

A senior Australian community college CEO has featured in an ASQA educational video explaining the audit process.

Michelle Simpson (pictured below, in the video), CEO of Tamworth Community College and a Board Director of Community Colleges Australia (CCA), is one of four experts appearing in the ASQA video. She appears along with VET leader Andrew Shea from the Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA) (session Chair) and two ASQA auditors.

ASQA Chief Commissioner and CEO, Saxon Rice, said the initiative reflected the authority’s role as the national regulator for VET to support providers in understanding ASQA’s compliance expectations.

“ASQA is committed to enhancing its educative role by making regulatory information available to the VET sector in ways that are easier to access. We’ve listened to our stakeholders and are rolling out video content aimed at explaining regulatory processes in a conversational format.”

The video on what to expect at audit is available at full length and also in seven stand-alone chapters. It is also available as an audio file for those who prefer podcasts. The written program transcript is also available.

“CCA congratulates ASQA on this excellent initiative, and for ensuring the community education perspective is included in the material. We are also pleased that ASQA has created a number of ways for users to access the material, which will enhance education and training usage,” said Dr Don Perlgut, CCA CEO.

February 19 note: the ASQA video on assessment is also now available.
