Community Colleges Australia Appears before House of Representatives Committee on Employment Education Training Inquiry into Adult Literacy and Its Importance

Community Colleges Australia (CCA) representatives have appeared before the Australian Parliament’s House of Representatives Committee on Employment Education Training Inquiry into “Adult Literacy and Its Importance”. Three representatives gave testimony on Thursday 19 August: Theresa Collignon, CCA Deputy Chair & CEO of Macquarie Community College; Kerry Johnson, CCA Board Director & CEO of ACE Community Colleges; and Evelyn Goodwin, CCA Manager of Policy & Projects.

Deputy Chair of the Committee – Lisa Chester (ALP – Bendigo) chaired the CCA session, with other questions coming from Celia Hammond (Lib – Curtin WA). The hearing was conducted fully online via videoconference. Following CCA, the Australian Council for Adult Literacy (ACAL) provided testimony to the Committee.

During the session, CCA representatives drew on the founation skills resolutions which arose from the CCA National ACE Summit held in late June. (Download a copy of the resolutions here.)
