National VET Leaders Speak at CCA Victorian Meeting

Two national vocational education and training (VET) leaders spoke at the most recent meeting of Victorian CEOs of Community Colleges Australia.
Professor Peter Noonan, Professor of Tertiary Education Policy, Mitchell Institute, Victoria University, spoke about his recent report, entitled VET Funding in Australia: background, trends and future directions. Professor Noonan has played a major role in shaping policy in Australian higher education and VET for more than 25 years as a researcher, senior public servant, consultant, and adviser to national and state governments.
In addition to Professor Noonan, Associate Professor Ruth Schubert, Associate Director of the LH Martin Institute at the University of Melbourne, spoke about “Innovation and VET”, in the context of the National Innovation and Science Agenda.  Associate Professor Schubert was previously the Director, Business Transformation with TAFE SA.
Mark James, National Engagement Manager of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), spoke on recent AICD research findings on governance in the not-for-profit sector. Nick Orchard, Senior Manager, Youth Transitions at the Brotherhood of St Laurence (BSL) also discussed his organisation’s work in youth employment.
