Governance

Governance in community education organisations

Community Colleges Australia (CCA) has an ongoing national education project to provide technical assistance, strategic advice and expertise to the chief executives and boards of directors of community education providers in order to maintain and improve their corporate governance capabilities. CCA provides seminars, executive coaching and mentoring of member CEOs and Board Chairs, and the development of a suite of easily accessible educational materials.

To date, CCA has produced and released 3 series and 22 episodes of its Governance Audio Podcast series. The series features experienced community college CEOs and Board Directors, as well as legal experts and governance specialists. The podcasts have been produced for community education Boards of Directors, CEOs, company secretaries and other senior staff involved in organisational governance. Click here to go to the podcast series page where you can listen to each episode, or download and read the transcripts.

CCA has also developed tailored governance training for its members: Strengthening Governance: A customised series for Board Directors. This series includes online information and coaching sessions for CCA member Board Directors, Chairs and CEOs.

"The CCA podcast resource is on a par with governance resources we have adopted from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Institute of Community Directors Australia, and the Institute of Managers and Leaders (formerly the Australian Institute of Management).

The Governance Podcasts are a terrific, informative resource from a credible source, and I congratulate and thank CCA and all those involved for producing and distributing them."
